I’ve tried to run on and off since university days but just couldn’t run the length of a teaspoon without getting bored and stopping. I had seen parkrun was a “thing” and asked a friend about it but still didn’t do anything about it for another couple of years. I was signed up for a night hike up Ben Nevis for charity and whilst I’ve done Munro’s I thought it would be good to up the fitness, so signed up for my parkrun barcode. Fast forward 6 months and I joined JogScotland Dunfermline a few months before lockdown. The virtual running club we became really spurred me on to get out there with the challenges which were set up for us to do, then small meet ups and finally back to what is now our “new” club.
Running with other people really has so many benefits, and my social life is packed now with the things I do with my running friends. I really don’t know where I’d be without them. I don’t take running seriously, I’ll never be a “speedie” but it’s a lot of fun. Something I thought I would NEVER say!
