“their very own” The Three Lochs Challenge

Helping a friend was all the inspiration that was required for Jog Scotland Dunfermline to get their running shoes on for charity.

The group took part in the Three Lochs Challenge, a 30 mile relay run, in June and raised £1,935.00 for Diabetes Scotland. Inspiration to raise the money came from fellow group member Sharron Sutherland, who suffers from diabetes.

On June 11, 56 members from Jog Scotland Dunfermline (JSD) and Jog Scotland Cowdenbeath ran around Loch Leven, Lochore, Townhill Loch and the links between. The money raised was handed over to Karen Moore, from Diabetes Scotland, at the Del Farqharson Centre in Dunfermline. Christine Garvie, chairperson for JSD, said “We were absolutely delighted at how much we managed to raise. “The representative from the charity was so pleased with our efforts and said the money going into the charity would help children who desperately need it. we had a great number of people take part and morale was high. Even though it rained, everyone enjoyed it and said they would do it again.”

The event was supported by friends and family of both groups, providing marshalling and transport cover where required. Sponsorship was raised by members taking part in this challenge along with others participating in organised running events elsewhere in Scotland. The fund raising culminated in a raffle and a members fee contribution matching pledge from JSD.

A post-event buffet at the Village Inn, Townhill, was provided by members.
